Acatechize - How to Design a Web Site

Creating a Web Page

When creating a web page if you use color combinations that match your web business it can actually increase your conversion rate and your sales.

When people see certain colors it can change their emotions or symbolize things to them that relate to those colors.

There is no doubt about it we are all influenced in one way or another by the colors we see. How often have you visited a web page to be faced by a mixture of colors that make you quickly click away, almost before the page has loaded ?

Are your colors warm and inviting or hostile and repelling ?

The next time you create a web page think seriously about the message you want to impart to the visitor.

That message is not just in the words on the page or the graphics, but also more subtly in the colors you use for the page background, borders, headers, footers, margins and navigation.

Creating a web page - Color MatchingThe colors you use should also compliment each other.

Choosing complimentary colors when creating a web page is best achieved using what is known as a Color Wheel.

Having tried several color matching generators the one that I prefer to use is the YS Elvan Color Scheme & Color picker. It's available in both free and paid versions.

Here are a list of colors you could use when creating a web page along with the emotions and symbolizations they can cause:

Red - love, excitement, warmth
Pink - romantic, affection, sensuality
White - purity, peace, perfection
Blue - sky, water, travel, freedom, truth
Purple - royalty, dignity
Black - space, night, authority
Green - money, calm, envy, greed
Yellow - light, purity, understanding
Orange - autumn, youthfulness, fire
Brown - wood, comfort, strength

It's very important to know when creating a web page which emotions or symbolizations will trigger your target audience to buy your product or service.

If your selling a money-making product you could use green colors to represent money or bring out the emotion of greed.

Suppose, you were creating a web page about travel. Since people also associate comfort and money with travel you might want to add in some brown and blue colors to your web page.

The same principle can be applied to graphics or pictures of your product when creating a web page.

Package your products with colors that trigger your audience to buy. If you're selling a book about how to be more romantic, use red and pink colors on the cover.

Using these color techniques when creating a web page has been proven through extensive split testing to increase business's sales.
